What is Humanistic Counselling?

What is Humanistic Counselling?

Developed in the 1950s by Dr Carl Rogers, this type of counselling moves away from the concept of the counsellor as an expert and instead works on the belief of a client’s potential to make the right choices for themselves. Counsellors working to this modality will offer qualities of empathy, acceptance and genuineness towards their clients in order to build a non-judgemental relationship of trust and understanding in order to help them achieve their highest potential.
